🌳 A View from the Hills: Starting a New Deck and Landscape Transformation in Northwest Austin

A Legacy of Craftsmanship in Northwest Hills

For over 14 years, the team at Terra Dura Landscapes has been privileged to work in some of Central Texas's most scenic and well-loved neighborhoods, and Northwest Hills holds a special place for us. This community is defined by its breathtaking hilly terrain, winding streets shaded by mature oak trees, and a beautiful blend of established homes with modern, contemporary updates. It truly is a serene, family-friendly pocket of luxury just minutes from the heart of Austin.

The area’s unique topography—built on limestone with rocky soil and sweeping views—presents wonderful, challenging opportunities for landscape design. It requires a deep understanding of local conditions to create outdoor spaces that are both functional and enduring.

Project Spotlight: Deck and Design for a Northwest Hills Home

We are thrilled to announce the start of a comprehensive outdoor living project right here in Northwest Hills. This particular property, like many in the area, features a significant slope, making a traditional ground-level patio impractical.

The Solution? A Custom-Built Deck and Integrated Landscape Design.

  • Custom Deck Construction: A new deck will be built to create a level, stable, and structured outdoor living space that functions as a seamless extension of the home. Building up on the hillside allows us to capture the impressive views the neighborhood is known for. We are focused on using durable, high-quality materials to ensure the structure stands up beautifully to the Central Texas heat and rain.

  • Integrated Landscape Design: The construction will be complemented by a sustainable landscape plan. In an area known for its mature trees and substantial tree canopy, our design will focus on:

    • Plant Selection: Incorporating native and adapted species that thrive in the local soil and climate, minimizing water use and maintenance.

    • Erosion Control: Using terracing and planting techniques to manage water runoff on the hilly terrain.

    • Defining Spaces: Creating connected outdoor "rooms" for entertaining, relaxing, and family activities, linked by thoughtful pathways.
